Well, they’d gone several weeks without a moment like this during an interview. The Fates had probably decided that they were long overdue for some ‘Rorbastian Speculation’. Sebastian very easily slid his arm back around the stammering boy’s shoulder, though he did not even blink an eye in the face of the screaming girls or their bandmates’s stupid grins. “Yeah, what he said, we’re just best friends.” (Like Bert and Ernie, Sebastian could already imagine someone typing up on their blog.) He shrugged his free shoulder when he saw the clear disbelief written on Luciana’s face. Instead of bothering to deny it, Sebastian took the opposite approach, looked straight at the audience and asked in a deadpan voice, “Haven’t any of you girls heard the phrase ‘It’s not real friendship without homosexual moments’?”
This, of course, got a rise out of the audience. “Just play along with it,” he whispered as he leaned in toward Rory. Even several inches away, Sebastian could feel the heat radiating off of his cheeks. Were they not on live television, he might have said or done something else to embarrass the poor boy even further but he figured that he’d done enough damage for one day. When he pulled away, he knew the audience expected some of insight as to what he’d just said. So Sebastian turned to Luciana, flashed her the most dazzling smile that he could possibly muster and say, “Anyway, what I was just telling Rory was that our friendship sort of reminds me of the one between Jeff and Nick over there—” He nodded toward the blonde and brunette. The camera followed his gaze, taking the attention off of the two of them at least temporarily. “—except we’re far less interesting than they are.”
Taking a cue from there, Luciana focused more of her attention to the so-called clowns of the group. Sebastian relaxed back into his seat as Jeff soliloquized the pains on having to deal with an idiot like Nick on a day-to-day basis, occasionally adding in his own comments on how they were both idiots. He thought to mention the latest adventures in utter and complete idiocy but then he would have to mention how it was Rory who removed the drawings from his face and, well, they’d done enough fan service for one day. (The one thing he did allow, however, was to keep his arm around Rory’s shoulder, though he told himself that Rory was very comfortable and that was the only reason he kept it there.)
Finally, as the interview came to an end, Luciana announced that before they closed the show, they would be performing an acoustic version of their newest single for the audience. They’d all been informed ahead of time, so Sebastian simply got up from his chair and gathered around a member of the show’s band. Sebastian liked these types performances the best. As much fun as he had performing the studio versions of their songs, he preferred the acoustic performances because he believed those were the ones that demonstrated that they legitimately had talent. This was the part he’d been looking forward to.
‘Of course, Sebastian had to go and open his mouth.’ Rory thought to himself. With his comment he made the entire Rorbastian shipper get a heart attack or something. So now all those girls were thinking they had homosexual moments when the truth was they barely had moments as friends. Luciana was looking as she was enjoying all of this commotion, but Rory just was there not saying anything as his cheeks were red. If he kept blushing he might give the fans the wrong idea about him and Sebastian. Rory rolled his eyes when Sebastian told him to go along with it. What other choice did he have? Not that he wanted say another thing anyways.
Rory rest his head back with his eyes closed and just let the moment happen. He moved his head to look at Sebastian as he looked at Luciana as said that their friendship reminded them of between Nick and Jeff. Rory snorted and covered his mouth to chuckle as the camera turned to Nick and Jeff who soon started to babble about how awesome they were. “Like the one between Jeff and Nick?” Rory looked at Sebastian and raised his eyebrow, laughing softly. “Yeah… we are just like them” He teased and shook his head softly.
They were laughing and listening to the stories ‘Niff’ were telling about all the mischievous things they would do to the other band mates and such. Rory just leaned back onto the chair with Sebastian’s arm on his shoulder. He was unsure why had the other boy decided to leave it there, but it did not bother Rory at all. It was comfortable to be honest and he was pretty sure no one would care if he left it there anyways. Besides, most people longed things like that to happen between them, he could just picture all the girls who liked them together to be going crazy over their actions.
The interview was coming to an end and it was the time for them to go and perform, the thing that was different from all the other performance was that it was acoustic; it was more soul like than the studio version of the song. What also Rory really liked about performing in acoustic was that Sebastian’s voice would change into this melody, his voice would come off as soft, but powerful. He really loved hearing Sebastian sing in acoustic, he liked hearing Sebastian sing. As they walked to the area to perform Jeff and Blaine grabbed the guitars and they all adjusted the microphones in front of them as they were hearing at all the girls scream out for them. They boys with the guitars started to play as the lights dimmed down and Sebastian’s voice started to fill the set. Rory couldn’t take his eyes off of him now, Sebastian looked unreal and they way he was singing was just wonderful. He just hoped he wouldn’t forget when it was his turn to join in the chorus.
